I want everyone to rest well knowing that the Photo189 Project IS STILL GOING ON.  I just can not post the pictures.  At the end of the year, I am going to create a photo show of all the pictures.  Just looking at the photos now, I can already see how much they have changed.

My Big Helper (18/189)

Ugh. I have been coughing up a lung (not able to get out a complete sentence without coughing) for about 3 day. These little beauties are the BEST cough drops ever!

Rising Creek (16/189)

We had TONS of rain in the past two days. We were all searching our Bibles to get the instructions for an ark. This is a picture of a (usually) mild little creek near the school.

Letters From Kids (14/189)

This was soooooo sweet! I received some "love" letters, that were made as part of a classroom activity, from the kids that were in my class year. That made my day!

Staff Meeting (13/189)

I realize that you can not see the presentation, but our Assistant Principal gave a little presentation about New Media (a.k.a "Social Media") and the implications for educators. I'm glad that our district is not shying away from the 21st Century education system.

A Perfect 2nd Grade Line (12/189)

Success!!!!! Our students were in a great line today. It has taken the constant effort of Mrs. Peden (my co-teacher, or am I her co-teacher) and myself, but our class was IN A STRAIGHT LINE today!!!! I really only think other elementary school teachers and administrators will truly appreciate how much of a triumph this is for us.

Calendar Math (11/189)

Today I took the BEST picture of my kiddos during our Calendar Math time. I saw how engaged they were and had to take a picture!

Looking In (9/189)

Today's Photo189 is a pretty awesome picture taken from outside looking in. While my team teacher, Mrs. Desiree Peden, was reading this month Book of the Month, I snuck out and took a picture from the window looking in. It is a priceless photo.

Recess (8/189)

Today I took the sweetest picture of the entire second grade kids playing at recess. They looked so happy and joyful.
(since the photo's subject is kiddos, the picture will not be posted here)

I can not believe that this year is about to start! It seems like just last year I graduated and had my first class. Wow.

Chaos (1/189)

Today is the first day of my 2010-2011 contract year. Yipee! We all get a brand new school too! That means I have to move in boxes, unpack boxes, organize my room, and get it ready for kids. As you can see from the picture, I have boxes moved in and am in the process of putting things away. Wish me luck!

I am shocked at the amount of people who have taken on the Photo189 Project.  They all seem as pumped as I am to get this started.  It even has a Twitter hashtag! #photo189

Here is a list of the blogs/websites that I have found so far: by Angela K. Haynes

If you have one or have seen another, let me know and I will add it to this site.

Get Ready For The School Year!

Here is the idea:
Have you heard of the "Photo 365 Project"? (
I am going to do "Photo 189".  This will document my school year.  I will not post pictures of students without parental permission.  I will blur the face of the students or describe the picture instead of posting it.  I realize this is not ideal, but my students' privacy comes first.  I am wondering how I can let my students in on the excitement.  I only have one camera.  Should I check out one from my school for the entire year?  Another option is to let them use my iPhone to take the pictures they want to contribute.  My students usually have access to my iPhone for all sorts of educational reason, so this would not be a revolutionary idea for me.
